Through The Ages XI is a team that was established in 2018 after a very successful charity event that was held, raising money for a Portsmouth based charity called Football For Cancer (FFC). The event was called Through The Ages 2018. The thought process behind the name was because cancer can affect any age young or old. Three games were held over the day starting with a youth game, walking football then the main game – Athletico Porto v FFC Legends.
Athletico Porto are a team that were formed several years ago and have all stayed in touch since. They reformed to play this game in memory of a team mate who sadly lost his battle with cancer. The event itself raised over £7,000 for the charity and was so popular that the event organiser wanted this to become an annual event and not restrict it to individual players. We want to make it an open team where anybody that has a charity that they want to support, an individual who has suffered the loss or has been affected by cancer in any way and would like to be involved in playing or just helping out can do so as part of this new organised team Through The Ages XI.
Each year TTAXI will play an annual game against their main partnered charity and will identify other local charities to organise and play matches to raise money for. Each of these games will need 17/18 players to play for the TTAXI which will be based on a registration fee (all that money will go to the chosen charity) and fundraising via JustGiving pages linked to that specific cause.
Players will not need to worry about kit as that is already in place as is everything else. All they need to worry about is taking part, doing some fundraising and enjoying the day with friends and family.
